The following information and photographs are based our Oakstead Pedestrian Bridge project located in Land O’Lakes, Florida.

Nature Bridges was contracted to conduct an assessment of an existing 15 year old, 8′ wide x 332 linear foot pedestrian bridge. In conducting our evaluation, we took into consideration the most cost effective approach to either repair or replace the existing pedestrian bridge.

When evaluating the condition of the bridge, we determined that marine grade piles previously used for the existing structure were adequate for its intended use. However, due to poor construction practices and weathering, the decking, handrail, stringers, and caps were in critical need of replacement.

Based upon our professional expertise and past experiences with wood bridge repair, golf course and cart bridge repair, Nature Bridges provided our client with an estimate, along with a comprehensive plan of action that included demolition of faulty construction, and replacement of the decking, handrail and benches.

After refurbishing the bridge, what was left behind was a beautiful and safe pedestrian bridge that our clients will enjoy for many years to come.
